This is a display plate or a serving plate by Royal Doulton in the Shakespearean character series – pattern number D3596.  There are 12 different characters; this one features Orlando.

The series was in production 1912 -1928.

It is about 19.5 cm square, with scalloping around the edge. 

The item is in very good condition – no chips, cracks, restoration, hairlines or crazing – but with a small knife mark to the lower part of his tunic – see last photo.
