Vintage wedding midcentury Purse Evening Clutch Handbag Gold & Pastel Pink Brocade by Britemode, accessorized with a brooch buckle and faux roses bow arrangement

Britemode "petites"was what these beautiful little clutch purses were called, back in the 1930's up to the Mid-Century Era...as designed by Bernard Brightman working in his father's company, Brightman Products Co., Inc., maker of ladies handbags and accessories. Their 'House of Clutches' was on Fifth Avenue, New York City, with showrooms in Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, Miami, and Pittsburgh.

Their Purse & Accessory company stayed in business until the early 1970's when it was sold, and shortly after, Bernie Brightman created 'Stash Records'...

This PETITE beauty is made of brocade with a floral design on a pastel pink background with delicate golden flowers. The closure missing a pearl on the top is secured by a snap to reveal a somewhat wrinkled lining, with the small BRITEMODE mirror in the pocket.

The clutch measures about 8" wide by 5 1/2" high x 3 inches deep.

Very good condition. The mirror shows age.

Item was modified- the closure area was painted with bronze colored paint to cover tear in the fabric and rust underneath. As a result there are golden colored marks on the outside and bleed on the lining by the closure area,  however the inside and outside of this purse is clean and smells good.
