Ancient Bronzed Figure of Vishnu, Cambodia, Angkor Wat, 12th Century - AMAZING!!!

 

Description

 

 

Features:

  • Ancient Figure of Hindu God - VISHNU

  • Standing Straight Wrapped in the Sampot (rectangular-shaped piece of material that is wrapped around the body and is fixed at the center, the leftover edges of the cloth are passed between the legs and fixed at the waist at the back) that is affixed at the Lower Back with the Large Flower-Like Buckle. At the Front The Leftovers of the cloth are Hanging Over the Belt, Creating a Pocket on the Right Side

  • Facial Features are very Slim. One Continuous Line of Eyebrows. Thin Line of Moustache (typical for Cambodian Sculptures 8th-12th Centuries A.D.)

  • Hair are Composed in Vertical Chignon Hairdo that is Decorated with the Large Jewel at the Top

  • With 4 Arms (the depiction of Vishnu below is typical for Cambodia of that Period)

    • Right Top Hand Holds a Sun

    • Right Bottom Hand Holds a Moon

    • Top Left Hand Holds a Shell

    • Bottom Left Hand Holds a Club

  • Vishnu's Necklace and Crown are Richly Decorated with Jewels & Pendants

 

  • Timber Pedestal is Made of Cedar, c.1850-1870 - NOT ORIGINAL

  • Material: Iron Covered with Layer of Bronze

  • Solid and Heavy

  • Origin: Cambodia

  • Style: Angkor Wat

  • Era: Khmer, circa 12th Century A.D.
