This is a fine Museum Quality Tiffany Studios Reproduction of their Leaded Glass Gourd Shade mounted on the Empire Bronze Base. This is a good sized lamp at 31 inches tall on its 13 inch bronze sculpted Empire Base. The lamp weighs in at about 27 pounds of fine Bronze and Leaded Glass. The Gourd shade was probably designed by Clara Driscoll around 1900 - 1906. The flowers, gourds and leaves are supported by a trellis that is visible in the background. The eliptical shape curves gracefully from the aperture to the trellis at the base. The shade is 24 inches in diameter and 11 inches tall with a 5 inch aperture (actual 4.5) with 606 pieces of fine leaded glass, primarily Youghiogheny, Uroboros and Bullseye Glass. The Bronze Base is the Windbrine Flower Base and stands 31 inches tall to the top of the finial. Quoting from Dr. Neustadt's "The Lamps of Tiffany" book, he states "The style of the elaborate base is pure Empire. Four ornate legs rise from a four-cornerd platform, merge to make the slightly bulging body of the stem, then narrow and flare out again to form four scrolls; above the scrolls, the stem ends in a flattened orb of openwork." Just a great and magnificant Tiffany Reproduction Lamp for your home or office.
