Due to the unique and handmade nature of Suzani, small faults, uneven fabric partitions and other inconsistencies/imperfections are normal and only prove the authenticity of the handmade art piece. Flaws, such as voids of missing stitching or a tattered edge, or the occasional pen markings of the quilter’s hand-drawn patterns are not considered to detract from the beauty and the authenticity of the quilt among the collectors and admirers of Suzani. Suzani (Suzana, Sozana) is a hand-embroidered wall decor or bed/couch/chair cover art that is made in Uzbekistan. Suzane is embroidered with silk or floss with seams "kandakhiel" (type of smooth surface), "basma" (smooth surface attached), "yurma" (tambour), on cotton fabric, silk or velvet. The carpet is made with a lining, trimmed with braid or black fabric. A closed composition with a wide elegant border and a central field filled with one large patterned or several symmetrically arranged rosettes or motives (often of symbolic meaning) of a flowering bush, fruits, flowers, sometimes with images of animals.
