ARTIST: R R McIan (Robert Ronald McIan) 1803-1856, born in Scotland. Originally set out to be an actor in London. In the 1830's developed a second passion of painting. In the early 1840's, he left acting to pursue his painting resulting in The Costumes of the Clans of Scotland' (1845), and a follow up 'The Highlanders at Home' (1848).  OVERALL SIZE: 4-3/4" x 7-1/4"
