"We've had to rethink history of technology completely as a result of this single object", Tony Freeth, University College London.
"If the ancient Greeks had understood the capabilities of the technology they created, then they would have reached the moon within 300 years, and we'd now been exploring the nearest stars", Arthur C. Clarke
From the Ancient Relica Series, The famous Antikythera Mechanism
first computer engraved/etched on pure black slate with distressed
edges! First discovered in a Roman-era shipwreck by Greek sponge divers
in 1900 beside Antikythera Island, the fragments of a hand-powered
mechanism called an “ancient calculator" was found. The shoebox-size
device has a complex gearwheel system of 30 intricate bronze gear
wheels, a 19-year calendar & a 223-month eclipse prediction dial and
was capable of accurately predicting the motions of the five planets
known to the ancient Greeks, as well as the sun, the phases of the moon
& the solar and lunar eclipses — displaying them all relative to the
timings of ancient events such as the Olympic Games 4-year cycle. This
makes it an analog computer of great complexity. No other machine of
known existence shows a similarity in advanced engineering for at least
another 1,000 years & is widely regarded as a new Wonder of the
World.
Each artwork from the Ancient Relica Series is created to be
visually and tactically exciting. The heavy cold feel of the black
slate and rough edges drives a sense of
discovery. You just

let your eyes feel. Experience what it's like to explore the details of
these ancient
hieroglyphs, pictographs and petroglyphs
up close and personal. Our goal is to give you profoundness and
discovery - like when such sites were first uncovered.
