Danish Mid-Century Modern Cut Crystal Jam Jar w. Hugo Grün Silver Plated Lid

This jar belongs to a group of iconic jars / pots / bonbonnieres designed around the 1950s by silversmiths like Hugo Grün, Georg Jensen, Hans Hansen etc. in collaboration with crystal makers, glass makers and ceramicists like, very famously, Arne Bang.

The silversmiths would create stunning lids, which are in themselves amazing pieces of art, and supply them to bowls and vases by the other artists to create pots and jars like the one here. Some, like this one, were silver plated, others were in sterling silver.
Some will have been bought as a set, while others will have purchased only a lid for a bowl or jar already owned.

The jars are hugely collectible, and icons from the Danis mid-century modern design era.
