This is the first-ever Silver Krugerrand minted by the South African Mint and is released in celebration of 50 years of the Krugerrand. It bears the same iconic design as its Gold counterpart that is known and loved around the world.

The South African Mint is considering these to be Gem Premium Uncirculated due to the quality of the Silver being used and the state of art technology which enhances the detail of the coin.

The reverse of the coin depicts a beautiful Springbok Antelope running on the African brushwood.
All around the reverse of the coin, the inscriptions: “KRUGERRAND” – the name of the coin, “2017” – the year of issue and “FYNSILWER 1 OZ FINE SILVER” – the weight of the coin, “R1” – the face value and a small privy mark celebrating the 50th anniversary.

The obverse depicts the effigy of Paul Kruger, President of the Republic of South Africa (Transvaal) from 1883 to 1902. All around, the inscription: “SUID AFRIKA - in Afrikaans, SOUTH AFRICA” – the issuing country.
