I found a non-sports card antique dealer
near Bakersfield who had a large cigar box full of these patches. He bought
them from an estate sale of someone who died. 46 in all were in the box. 37 are
now left with 9 being sold. They sat closed in the box for about 20 odd years
not being exposed to UV light or dirt, so they are all bright, clean, and
pristine. These were worn by Dodger players on their uniforms during 1999
season only. Apparently, the Koufax versions were made for Kevin Brown and Chan
Ho Park jerseys only along with some test shots being made according to former
Dodger pitcher Jerry Reuss and his heroes patch site. Koufax and Buhler are the
toughest to find with Valenzuela being the last one made coming in 3rd. All of
these three are impossible to find. Others in the box included harder to find
Jackie Robinson, Duke Snider, Pee Wee Reese, Kirk Gibson, Manny Mota, Don
Drysdale, Gil Hodges Steve Garvey, Ron Cey, Carl Erskine, Tommy Davis, Mike
Scioscia, Fernando Valenzuela, and Johnny Podres, but unfortunately no Lasorda.
I only have 3 of the Koufax so those will go to the highest bidders. The first
one went for $2500. I am in the LA / San Diego area. If you need any of the
other patches, contact me. All will be listed on eBay. When these are gone do
not expect to see 3 of these ever again (Koufax, Buhler, and Valenzuela) so
this will be your last chance to own one. I now have a complete set of 24 but
it took me 22 years to complete. I do not know of anyone else who has a
complete set. Probably only 20 to 30 of these Koufax patches were ever made to
begin with and they may be amongst the scarcest Koufax items ever produced.
I am open to REASONABLE offers.
