What to do with your old Rayburn cooker?

IF you want to KEEP the cooker it can be converted to electricity. It won’t heat water or rads any more but the hotplate and oven will be ideal to use and it will still be a source of heat!
That’s a day’s job and a conversion cost of £1600 for the kit plus  a professional fitter can do it for you.(*) guide cost £850

Yes it’s a lot of money but putting in another cooker and changing your kitchen will cost more!

You could have a used 380G instead-same body exactly and fits even to the same flue.much more economical, no banned nercury oven thermostat and a proper gas boiler -and only £2500 to buy -or a new version the  480AG at over £10,000!

The other alternative is to sell/give away the cooker. Moving can cost hundreds if you can find someone--  more skill needed than  a "man with a van"

I collect these cookers to convert to either electric or some models convert to burning wood or coal.This is a £2000 + conversion involving a lot of welding etc so not a DIY job, see our Flameviews here, on ebay

So by all means advertise your cooker and best of luck selling it. I can offer you an “ebook on howto” on moving it ,plumbing,etc It could help you sell it as you could pass it on to a buyer so they know what gear they need ! but to fit as a gas central heating cooker -no, it can't be legally fitted as no CE stamp.
Alternatively I offer a collection service.The cooker has to be disconnected from gas and water BEFORE I collect (it can take hours to drain a big system) but only some models wanted- and distance from North Wales can be tricky! For example i dont want 2 tone brown (sable) or white models at all.

 I will pay cash, up to £120 maximum, for a cooker in lovely condition in a wanted colour.Usually more like £50-£80 and a helper to assist please! chipped and rusty -no thanks!

Cream, claret, pewter, wedgwood (sky) blue, teal, bright red, yellow models 380G with slam shut doors and black base chrome lids
 all are central heating models  (conventional top outlet flue)-sorry no thanks to oil ,200 or 400 or 600 series.

Collection. The cooker is rolled out in one piece (never dismantle) and a helper is needed to position rollers -and at 73 I ain’t as strong as I once was! Based 20 miles south of Chester I usually collect at weekends, bunching collections together to make it cost effective.
