Imperial Faberge Enamel Gild Silver Egg Pendant Maria Feodorovna
It is a pleasure to present
to you this old antique silver pendant in the shape of an Easter egg.
The egg is made of gilded
silver and is decorated with a hand engraved enameled monogram of Empress Maria
Feodorovna – a spouse of Emperor Alexander III and a mother of the last Emperor Nicholas II.
On the opposite site
of the engraved monogram, there are hand enchased the Cyrillic letters “ХВ” - an abbreviation of the traditional Easter greeting
„Христос Воскресе“ (meaning “Christ is risen”) used on the occasion of the most
important festival in the Christian calendar.
Such egg pendants were
made in limited quantity by the order of the royal family and were given away
as gifts personally by the Empress to the closest and most loyal people of the imperial court on the occasion of the Easter festival.
The item has the
respective imperial silver hallmark “84” and a stamp of the craftsman “КФ”.
The pendant is together with its wooden gift box which is also in the shape of an egg. The box is cushioned with satin and goldthread on the inside and is hand painted on the outside where the imperial coat of arms is depicted as well as the personal monogram of Maria Feodorovna and the abbreviation “ХВ”.
Both the pendant and
the box are in good condition.
