This is a Silver coloured metal bookmark made with a Portuguese FIVE ESCUDO coin. Earliest are from 1964, latest from 1986.

    They feature a Caravel sailing vessel developed by the Portuguese and used extensively for trade and exploration of the West African coast from the 1500's.

    All my coins have been in circulation so may show some minor imperfections but they are in very good condition with fine detail.

    They are highly polished to a mirror finish and then lacquered to prevent tarnishing.
