Nehi Cola Advertisement Die-cut paper advertisement for Nehi Cola in the shape of a stockinged leg in heels with the Nehi logo at the knee, possibly intended as a bookmark. In very fine condition.
Launched by the Chero-Cola corporation in 1924, Nehi Cola came in a variety of flavors including grape, orange, root beer, and peach. Their logo, typically a picture of a seated woman's legs with a skirt short enough to show the stockings up to the knee, was intended to suggest the correct pronunciation of the name. In the Midwest a somewhat more risqué logo was used, a disembodied leg without a skirt. The Nehi logo is prominently featured during a diner scene in the 1973 film Paper Moon, Grape Nehi was the beverage of choice for Walter "Radar" O'Reilly on the television program M*A*S*H*, and Jean Shepherd, author of the book that served as the basis for A Christmas Story, alluded to the Nehi logo in his writing. According to flicklives.com, the logo featured here was the inspiration for the famous Leg Lamp from the film.
