CABLE CLUTCH CONVERSION fits 67-68 Ford Mustang when retrofitting to a T5 or Tremec Five-speed transmission.

This kit gives you everything needed to convert your Mustang to a modern cable actuated clutch.

NOTHING ELSE IS NEEDED to convert your Mustang to a T5 or Tremec transmission using a Mustang cable type bellhousing and release lever (bellhousing and release lever not included).

This kit contains the following parts, completely ready to bolt into your 67 - 68 MUSTANG and GO! 

  • Pair of brake pedal bushings
  • Clutch Pedal, ALL NEW, including new shaft, designed with cable quadrant.  Works with stock bushings (provided) or the MustangSteve ballbearing shaft kit. (Ballbearing kit is optional)
  • Clutch pedal is full 3/8" thick, stronger than the original 1/4" thick pedal.
  • Billet adjustable firewall brace and cable stop with attaching bolts
  • Adjustable clutch cable.
  • Adjustable clutch pedal stop - so you can set the pedal height to your preference. (requires modification to side of pedal support.  NO WELDING required.
  • Use the existing brake pedal.  If the car is automatic transmission being converted to manual, simply trim the foot pad.  The rest of the brake pedal is the same.

    IN ADDITION TO THIS PEDAL SETUP, you will need the following parts to CONVERT TO T-5 or TREMEC 5 speed transmission: (not included with this auction, but good info to have)

    • T-5 or Tremec tranny from 5.0 Mustang (90-93 preferred, back to 85 will fit)
    • T-5 Bellhousing, block plate and release arm from 5.0 Mustang
    • Custom tranny crossmember
    • Flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, release bearing, pilot bearing
    • Shorten driveshaft 1/2" to 3/4" depending on your car.
    • Shifter - the stock T5 shifter will work or you can get fancy and go aftermarket

    THAT'S IT!!! A very easy swap, even if your Mustang is an automatic now!

    Design Features include:

    CABLE CLUTCH CONVERSION   Solid steel quadrant construction, precision machined for the cable, and has positive cable retention on the rear of the quadrant. NO MOVING PARTS to wear out on this cable system. The machined billet aluminum firewall brace/cable stop is designed to utilize the contoured area of the firewall as well as the double thickness steel area of the cowl flange to gain additional strength for a zero flex installation. The brace features 3/4" of cable adjustment available by simply opening the hood of your classic Mustang. Clutch can be adjusted by hand! The cable is the same design cable that Fords uses on 87-93 5.0 Mustangs, with a 3" adjustable section at the bottom, as well as the upper adjustment.  That will make it easier to obtain a replacement cable if you should ever wear this one out. Installation of this setup requires two 5/16" holes in the cowl flange (see picture) and a 1/2" hole for the cable to pass through the firewall. On some cars, the floor of the cowl must be raised slightly (about 1/4", the instructions show how) above the clutch pedal to clear the quadrant under the dashboard. This small modification to the cowl floor can be done by bending the cowl floor with a hammer and is not visible from anywhere on the car. That is a small price to pay to have the absolute strongest cable clutch setup available anywhere!
