All bearded irises come with planting and care advice and are for despatch in August/early September unless otherwise requested – please disregard ebay's automatic despatch date

Tall Bearded Iris Libellule de Sologne - space age iris

This gorgeous iris is not only a space age variety with a lovely scent, but also my favourite colour and libellule means dragonfly - I HAD to have it!. As if that wasn't enough, it is also a repeat flowering variety when the weather is kind. The standards are white with lilac streaks and the falls are shades of lilac. Early season, height 30 inches.

Standard dwarf varieties mostly flower in late April/early May, intermediates in mid May, and the tall bearded start at the end of May.  Plant in the same bed ranked by size for a very long display

I offer postage discounts, so click on view sellers other items to see what else could come in your parcel! Put plants in your basket and then buy from there and ebay will calculate reduced postage for you

Bearded irises are easy to grow in the right conditions - they need a hot dry position in full sun, where they are not overhung by the leaves of other plants. Planting advice will be sent with the rhizome in August/early September (please let me know if you are going to be away, and I will despatch earlier if they are ready, or leave them in the ground until you are back).

Please note that I only sell primary rhizomes, and each listing is for a single primary. I do not sell flowered rhizomes, which are worthless, nor secondary ones which take for ever to reach flowering size. Neither do I grow irises in pots, mine are all field grown so they have had the free root run that they need.

Bearded irises were heavily featured again at Chelsea this year, and also on the short list of 5 of the nations favourite flowers. They are certainly my favourites, I'm in heaven every June when they flower ! I have over 140 varieties, including all the rarest colours and I am often asked for them in spring or autumn. Like all the specialist iris growers, I ONLY sell them in the summer, with delivery timed for August/early September. Late summer is the only time of year when they can be successfully transplanted as they grow their roots in the autumn. There is no further root growth after November/December. They should never be grown in pots as they resent root constriction, and their roots are generally 18 - 30 inches long. If you have to grow them in a container, you will need a half barrel at least.

Did you know, in Greek mythology Iris was the messenger from the gods who came to earth through a rainbow.

Guarantee - any plants received in poor condition or which fail to arrive will be replaced free of charge.  Please do check my feedback for comments from other gardeners who have bought from me.

Very few of my parcels have gone astray, but some have turned out to be awaiting collection at the post office when no card has been left. Your item will be marked as 'despatched' on ebay as soon as possible, so if it doesn't arrive within a few days, please check your local post office first. Should you be unlucky enough to need to claim on the post office, I will, of course, do all I can to help.
