Japanese Calligraphy Painting Signed by Artist

For Sale:  A Japanese Calligraphy Painting (Please read all the information)!

I am selling this artwork for a client.  She has told me that this Japanese Calligraphy painting was given to her Mother-In-Law by the Palace in Japan during World War II.  Her Mother-In-Law was a Concubine in the Japanese Palace.  She was sold to an American GI, and they were married at the American Embassy in Japan in 1954.  I have their wedding certificate.  It states on the marriage certificate that her Mother-In-Law was a "Subject" of Japan.

I asked someone on the internet that writes Japanese Calligraphy what the Calligraphy said, and they told me that the small writing on the back translates to "Sakaguchi Suzume".  They suggested that this might be the name of the shodoka/artist, the person who made the Calligraphy.

I was told that the big calligraphy on the front means "Ear", and that the Red Stamp is a watermark.

The Calligraphy is on some type of paper, and looks as though it has been mounted on a type of canvas board covered in cloth.

Measurements of the canvas is 33" long x 23" wide x 2" deep. in inches.  83.82cm. long x 58.42cm. wide x 5.08cm deep in centimetres.

Measurements of the calligraphy painting is 27" long x 18" wide, in inches.  68.58cm long x 45.72cm wide in centimetres.

I am not an expert or knowledgeable about Japanese Calligraphy.  I have sought help in interpreting, and information about this Calligraphy Painting through eBay members to no avail.  Please look at all the pictures and decide for yourself.
