4. Background information of King Friedrich August III. of Saxony:

Friedrich August III, born Prince Friedrich August Johann Ludwig Karl Gustav Gregor Philipp of Saxony (born May 25, 1865 in Dresden; † February 18, 1932 at Sibyllenort Castle) from the line of the Albertine Wettins was from 1904 until his abdication on 13 November 1918 Last King of Saxony.

Prince Friedrich August saw the light of day on May 25, 1865 as the fourth child and eldest son of Prince George of Saxony and his wife Infanta Maria Anna of Portugal.

On November 21, 1891, Friedrich August married Archduchess Luise of Austria-Tuscany in Vienna. The marriage produced seven children.

After the abdication, he withdrew to his Silesian possessions, Schloss Sibyllenort in the district of Oels. There he lived a secluded life with his family, devoted himself extensively to hunting and travelling.

On February 18, 1932, Friedrich August suffered a stroke at the age of 66 and died of pulmonary paralysis at Sibyllenort Castle around 10:00 p.m. His body was transferred to Dresden and buried on February 23 in the crypt of the Catholic Court Church with a huge, unplanned crowd rush. More than 500,000 people, who came from all parts of Saxony, gave the funeral escort to the last king of Saxony. The soldier he always saw himself as was buried with the people, also with military honours.
