Coin grading is very subjective, and I am considered by most as a conservative grader. However, due to the unusual nature of the is coin I decided to have it certified by NGC. I was very pleased when they certified it as About Uncirculated(AU53). I was also very happy when they identified the coin had not been cleaned during its 149 year history. A very long time to stay in its original pristine state.
