Offered for sale is this selection of charming Royal Doulton Small Character Jugs from the “Characters from Williamsburg” series.

Royal Doulton introduced the Williamsburg characters into their figurines collection in 1960, which were soon followed by seven character jugs in the form of characters from colonial Williamsburg.

They were modelled by either Max Henk or David Biggs and available in large, small or mini sizes during their 20 year production. These are the small size.

Williamsburg is a restoration of an 18th century town, the capital of Virginia USA, which started to fall into neglect from 1780. However, Williamsburg’s restoration began in 1926 and today it is populated with hundreds of staff who carry on 18th century life, from their clothing to their traditional trades represented by these character jugs. 

The jugs are approx. 4 inches tall and are offered for sale in very good condition with no chips or cracks, unless stated otherwise.

They are all fully marked on the base with the Royal Doulton stamp. If the name of the jug starts with “The” this has been omitted from the title.
