This is for an original combination of items from the January
1 1971 Sugar Bowl played between the Tennessee Volunteers and Air Force Falcons
at Tulane Stadium in New Orleans Louisiana. The Vols would enter the game 10-1
and ranked number 4 in the nation while the Falcons would enter with a 9-2
record and ranked number 11. Tennessee would start out strong with a 24-0 lead
and never look back as they would win 34-13. One of the highlights of the game
would be a 57 yard punt return by Bobby Majors for a TD. In 1970, Majors would
set the Tennessee record for interceptions with 10, and still holds the
school’s career record for punt returns and career punt return yards. The
program is average to nice, but what makes it special is it still contains the
commemorative coin which was fastened to the first page. Almost all programs
are missing the coin. You will also receive a ticket stub from the game and a
couple of extras. One is a calendar for the 1970-71 Volunteers and the other is
a 3 ½ inch 1970 era Tennessee Vols pin. Put them all together and you’ll feel
like you just left the game in 1971 and are on the bus heading back home to
Knoxville. A must have for any Tennessee Vols fan.
