The last Light Horseman of World War I died on the 26th July 2002, just short of his 103rd birthday. He was trooper Albert Ernest Whitmore of the 9th Regiment.

Lindsay Baly's Father was a Light Horseman, his Mother said of the Light Horsemen, "they were prototypes that stopped with that one breed and were no more".

As well as following the history of the main campaigns, this book adds the personal insights and fortunes of three soldiers including the authors father, a decorated sergeant.

This book is about the spectacular triumphs along with tragedies of Australian Lighthorsemen.
