‘The Sacred Books of The East’ is an epic collection of monumental proportions – 50 volumes of English translations of Asian religious texts and writings, edited by Max Muller, and published by The Oxford University Press between 1879 – 1910. It features translations of the key sacred texts of Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Taoism, Confucianism and Zoroastrianism.

Also included in this stunning collection is ‘The Sacred Books and Early Literature of the East’ - a fascinating collection of 14 volumes of sacred texts and scriptures compiled by Charles Francis Horne and published in 1917. Comprised of selections of various length drawn mainly from academic works of the late 19th and early 20th century, the subject matter is assembled by volume according to era, region and similarity. Covering sacred texts and scriptures from ancient Jerusalem to Kyoto, this wonderful collection brings together some of the oldest and most revered literature from the ancient civilizations of the East.
