The first US version of the album, "The Who Sings My Generation" (mono & stereo/no chart record), was released in April 1966.

The UK version of "I'm A Man" (Bo Diddley's cover from 1955) was replaced with "Instant Party" because of its sexual lyrics. The song "Kids Are All Right" was used as an edited version of the UK single.

The cover of the US version, with Big Ben in the background, has a great atmosphere.
It is no wonder that many fans prefer the US version to the UK version.
This disc is a 2-in-1 coupling of mono and stereo versions of all 12 tracks of the first US version.
