Here is a bright and
cheerful Japanese totai shippo miniature tea cup (cloisonné
enamel artworks which a ceramic, earthenware or porcelain body or foundation is
utilized). The overall condition is excellent.
The miniature tea pot is
in remarkably excellent antique condition considering its age; there are very
little areas of pitting, enamel skipping which are all typical of this rare
technique. There is a tiny enamel skip to the rim of the cup and can only been seen upon close inspection.
The base is signed with a
six character kanji signature, “Nip-pon
Shi-po Kai-sha,” which translates
to “Japan cloisonne company.” Please refer
to the detailed images provided for you.
I purchased this miniature
tea cup as specialists agree that this technique was made for a very short
time-span, making these examples fairly rare, especially with the highly
respected Shippo kaisha wokshop signature!
Overall, a strong example
of a very rare technique that was only produced for a relatively short time.
The height of the miniature
tea cup is approximately 1.75 inches
The diameter of the
mouth is about 3.25 inches.
