An old gem from Nepal!

The small bronze shrine is a very special piece, an old unicum! Pieces like these are now extremely rare.

I estimate the shrine to be approx. to 40 years. It is in very good condition. Buddha's body was fire-gilded. he shines gracefully, proudly and warmly.

I bought the statue in Durbar Square in Kathmandu from a Tibetan!

Shown is Shakyamuni Buddha on his throne. He has a beautifully finely decorated "aura" of a lotus flower relief and many snakes. Garuda is depicted above Buddha, a snake-killing, half-human, half-eagle mount. In mythology, the Garuda also has the meaning of a messengers of the gods, who brings tidings and instructions from the gods to the people. Furthermore, one finds other Tibetan escort animals and Dakinis in the aura, these are the Tibetan angels. There are even 2 guardian lions in his throne. Buddha himself is in gesture of bestowal. Even the robe of Buddha is unique!

The material is bronze. The dreamy shrine weighs 6.2 kilos!
