Porcelain Armorial Plate with alliance noble coat of arms 

COUNT EDWARD v. Haeseler & COUNTESS ADOLFINE v.d. KNESEBECK

19th century


1. Condition:

Extremely decorative porcelain plate, in the center with the alliance coat of arms of the two counts' houses of Knesebeck and Haeseler.

This coat of arms plate was probably made on the occasion of the wedding of Count Eduard von Haeseler & Countess Adolfine von dem Knesebeck.

White porcelain with intact gold decoration and coat of arms (see attached photos). Without porcelain mark, only with inscription of the two noble families.

Hand-painted beautiful coat of arms!

Measures: 9,45 inch ( approximately 24cm)

Excellent overall condition! No damage, minimal signs of wear! Extremely decorative collector's item. Rare coat of arms plate with count's double coat of arms.


2. Background information on the count's noble families v. i.e. Knesebeck & v. Haeseler:

Von dem Knesebeck is the name of two primeval nobility of different descent. The "Black Trunk" comes from eastern Lower Saxony, the "White Trunk" from the neighboring Altmark.

In the 17th century the two families recognized a common origin and united their different coats of arms. Branches of both tribes still exist today, as does a family association founded in 1895.

Coat of arms display:

The fourth coat of arms has been used since 1644. 1 and 4 the ancestral crest of the white tribe, 2 and 3 the ancestral crest of the black tribe. On the helmet with red and silver helmet covers, five black grouse feathers (color sequence: black, silver, black, silver, black) in front of three flags (color sequence: red, silver, red) on silver poles.

The von Haeseler noble family was originally a noble family from the Magdeburg area, which settled at the end of the 18th century. was raised to the rank of count.

A large number of Prussian generals came from the noble family, including Willy von Haeseler (1841-1927) and Gottlieb von Haeseler (1836-1919), Prussian field marshal.
