Julien Causse (1869-1909) „Le Penseur“

Der französische Bildhauer Julien Causse war mit seinem Schaffen prägend für die Kunstrichtung des Art Nouveau. Nach seinem Studium bei Alexandre Falguieres stellte er ab 1888 bis zu seinem frühen Tod 1909 regelmäßig im Pariser Salon des Artistes aus. Sein Sujet war maßgeblich von allegorischen und mythologischen Themen bestimmt. Auch in seiner symbolhaften Gestaltung des menschlichen Geistes, der vorliegenden Skulptur „Le Penseur“, zeigt sich seine Vorliebe für klassische Themen.

Sehr schöne, elegante Ausformung. Bronzeguss, teilweise patiniert, auf Marmorsockel. Unterseite mit geritzter Nummer E 8939; seitlich mit Künstlersignatur „Causse“, um 1900.

Am rechten Arm ist der Ansatz zur Schulter hin sichtbar; diese Ansatzstellen machen den Prozess des aufwendigen Zusammenfügens der einzelnen Gussteile sichtbar. Vermutlich wurde der Arm nachträglich extra fixiert – die Stelle ist sichtbar, aber sehr fest.

Ansonsten sehr schöner, originaler Zustand.

Julien Causse (1869-1909) "Le Penseur" (The Penseur)

The French sculptor Julien Causse's work was influential in the Art Nouveau movement. After studying with Alexandre Falguieres, he exhibited regularly at the Salon des Artistes in Paris from 1888 until his early death in 1909. His subject matter was largely determined by allegorical and mythological themes. His preference for classical themes is also evident in his symbolic depiction of the human spirit, the present sculpture "Le Penseur".

Very beautiful, elegant design. Cast bronze, partially patinated, on a marble base. Bottom with incised number E 8939; on the side with artist's signature "Causse", around 1900.

On the right arm the attachment towards the shoulder is visible; these attachment points make the process of the elaborate joining of the individual cast parts visible. Presumably the arm was extra fixed afterwards - the spot is visible, but very firm.
Otherwise very nice, original condition.

Some objects give up puzzles, lock themselves up; others quite frankly reveal their past. They radiate joie de vivre, astonish or enchant us; make a collector's heart beat faster or become good friends and a meaningful place in your lives. They may be bulky or controversial, but they are never boring. I believe the stories, the hands, and the tradition behind the objects are equally as important as their aesthetic qualities. Antique objects can adds so much value to your life, and I personally cannot imagine a home without it. Each piece in my shop has been thoughtfully and personally chosen. What unites them is their craftsmanship, care and attention to detail. Enjoy them.
