Tales of Tomorrow was the very first television series to treat the science-fiction genre seriously. Juvenile programs like Space Patrol and Tom Corbett Space Cadet, while enormously popular, were closer to motion picture serials with regard to plotting than science-fiction.

Tales of Tomorrow changed all of that. Each half-hour program in this extremely well-made anthology series was based on a work by a recognized science-fiction author, and featured a well-known performer in the leading role. In addition to such established players as Boris Karloff, Lon Chaney, Thomas Mitchell and Veronica Lake, Tales of Tomorrow featured some of today's top stars in their appearances before the television cameras including Rod Steiger, Paul Newman and Leslie Neilsen.

Though The Twilight Zone would follow many of the trails blazed by Tales of Tomorrow, the integrity of the latter - coupled with the fact that Tales of Tomorrow was telecast live without the luxury of film or video tape - makes for fascinating watching.

Unseen for over a quarter of a century, the programs included on this cassette were transferred from the only existing kinescope prints.

CONDITION: 

BETA is sealed, in good condition and from a smoke-free home. BETA cassette is assumed complete and free of mold. Case is a sealed cardboard slipcover in acceptable condition, with wear seen on the bottom edge of the slipcover where the plastic has separated but was originally sealed over (as pictured). There is also a small tear in the plastic on the back side (as pictured). Due to storage, signs of minor wear may be visible. BETA is sealed, therefor untested. See actual photos of item above.
