This auction is for a (1) working REAR PASSENGER SIDE (4 Door Sedan version) Door Actuator.  This is fully a non-repairable item when yours goes bad...you have to throw away the old one and replace it with another.  Pretty simple to do, actually.  If your lock doesn't go up and down, then likely the actuator has seized.   

This version ONLY fits the REAR PASSENGER SIDE door of 1976 GM full sized 4 DOOR cars (Called the B-body & C-Body Platforms).  THIS ACTUATOR IS UNIQUE & EXCLUSIVE TO THE 1976 MODEL YEAR ONLY!  They will NOT work in any 2 Door Coupe (see my other listings for those, as well as 1969-75 Actuators).  NOTE: Some late 1975 models may use this actuator with an adapter harness.

INSTALL:  These are a pretty straight-forward item to replace - Remove the door pads, unbolt the current actuator, disconnect from the rod, and remove the electrical connection.  Reverse directions to install.   NOTE:  Any units I list for sale are in working condition, and have been personally bench tested.  Details below:

ITEM CONDITION:   Unusually clean actuator that was removed from a low mileage car.  It's fully bench tested and has excellent snap action, both up and down.  The rubber boot is missing (common, they dry rot with age).  I'd suggest sleeving the unit prior to installation (see last picture as a suggestion).  This is hard to find part since it's only used in one door for one model year.  Great working condition for it's age (47 year old part!).  This particular actuator has a lot of years and miles left in it.
