What Do We Think?

We hear a Les Paul with a little less honk and a bit more air in the midrange. The top end is lively and snappy. The bottom is woody and resonant. The Wolfetone KauerBucker pickups exude a sweet and chimey ceiling, and an articulate midrange that intensifies the heavier you pick. With dirt the bottom stays fat but tight. Even through a clean amp, the guitar has a long and rich sustain.

You’ll probably find yourself making equal use of all three pickup settings. The bridge has a beautiful bark when pushing an overdriven amp, without falling prey to a nasal midrange. Think dry and snappy. The neck position KauerBucker has a sweet midrange vowel, almost like a wah pedal cocked halfway back but without the loss of clarity and definition. And the middle position is where it’s at for some crisp, compressed note attack with a broad EQ palette.

 

How Does It Play?

This guitar balances really nicely in your lap with a perfectly-proportioned waist. The neck profile is a comfortable round C all the way up, measuring .87” at the 1^st fret and .95” at the 12^th. The string action measures just 4/64” on the low E at the 12^th fret and only 3/64” on the high E. No buzz. The frets are perfectly dressed.
