Canada Quebec 1916 DELANDRE Red Cross Cinderella F/VF-NH. Decentered, as often. Small imperfections.  Lafrenière #cc4240.3 Artic Scene CV $15.00.
Born Gaston Fontanille in the 1880’s, Delandre, as he preferred to be called, set up shop to produce privately and market thousands of colorful World War I era vignettes detailing the various units of the French and other allied armies, fundraising stamps for the French Red Cross, and a variety of other patriotic and propaganda stamps.
Delandre also produced an album for his stamps. Many are found both perforated and imperforate, and sometimes in several color variations. Topical collectors will find diverse subject matter, such as trains, dogs, artillery, ships, maps, uniforms and costumes.
Delandre printed some stamps with the Red Cross logo, which eventually landed him in prison, as he did not share the proceeds of these stamps with the organisation.
