** Note that fitment of this kit will require the opening of your Amiga case, removal of shields, disk drive, etc for fitment of switcher modules and subsequent soldering of wires between modules and to your Amiga pcb to complete the job. it is straight forward but you will need to have the capability and confidence for this task. I cannot take responsibility for any errors on your part so please keep that in mind.

Open Kickstart Switcher is a Kickstart switcher for Amiga computers, based on work by Henryk Richter and SukkuPera. In combination with the Open Amiga Mouse Trigger, this fantastic little piece of hardware allows the choice of 3 Kickstart roms at bootup on the supplied eprom (M27C800 blank and ready to program)

  • Suitable for Amiga 500(+) and 2000 models with a jumper to select whether fitment to revision 3/5 or 6 boards
  • Supplied eprom can hold 1x512KB and 2x256KB kickstart roms so you can run Kickstart 3.1, 1.3 and 1.2 or substitute 1.2 for a DiagROM
  • (I can supply an optional 27c160 eprom which will give the choice of 2x512KB and 2x256KB roms. ie Kickstart 3.1, 2.04, 1.3 and 1.2)
  • Quality build with narrow gold plated pin headers
  • Selection of roms at bootup by left mouse button or a combination of joystick button/direction depending on how you install
  • Complete with blank eprom which you will be required to program (I can offer custom programming please contact about this)
* Pictures show fitment to my Amiga 500 revision 6a. I have connected the Mouse Trigger module to the Amiga pcb at locations for joystick button and joystick down.
Default Kickstart setting at boot is 3.1. Pressing joystick fire at bootup selects Kickstart 1.3. Pressing joystick fire and down at bootup selects DiagROM.
* Alternatively for simpler installation, you could do away with the the mouse trigger and wire up a manual switch to the module.
* Shield can be refitted and will touch module, however removing shield is recommended and will allow the Amiga run a bit cooler

** Note. Amiga 500 and Kickstarts are not part of sale and are for display purposes only. Eprom supplied blank which you will be required to program. I can offer custom programming please contact me about this if required.
** Instructions provided for fitment to Amiga 500. Amiga 2000 you will have to check schematics for suitable solder points for mouse trigger and confirm your kickstart socket pinout for correct module setting.
