In Great Spirits: Archie Barwick's WWI Diary - from Gallipoli to the Western Front and Home Again : By Archie Barwick

Somewhat rare to see anything written about the Australian 1st Battalion AIF in WW1. So the release of this book will come as some relief to researchers of the 1st Battalion. And what an excellent detailed account of life with the Battalion from Gallipoli through the many Battles on the Western Front. The diaries were written by Archie Barwick who was an 'original' with the Battalion joining in August 1914. His enlistment number was 914 allotted to C Company of the 1st Bn.

He was a frontline infantry digger being wounded 3 times. An amazing story, he wrote his diary in 16 individual notebooks a total of, a massive 400000 words of which 133000 are used for this 380 page book. There is also a Afterword Chapter written by a son in law with interesting pictures of Archie in latter life.
