Land Rover Series II 1957 Midland Red

A decade after the premiere of the original model, the Land Rover Series II debuted, representing a gentle evolution of the original that introduced a number of technical improvements. On the outside, the Land Rover lost a few of its sharp edges, gaining slightly less boxy lines, but the major changes were under the skin, including a wider track for better cornering and on-road stability. The curvature of the doors is still the easiest way to tell apart Series I and Series II models -- the Series II cars feature curved window sills that give the model a less boxy profile.

Midland Red was a bus company that operated in The Midlands from 1905 until 1981. It was one of the largest English bus companies, operating over a large area between Gloucester in the south and Derbyshire in the north, and from Northampton to the Welsh border.
