Dante Alighieri is considered the greatest Italian poet, well known for “The Divine Comedy” – an epic poem which is one of the most important works of literature in the world. The poem is divided into three sections: hell, purgatory and paradise.
It is well known that the most accomplished part of “The Divine Comedy” and at the same time, the part of which Dante himself was most proud is Paradiso. After Hell and Purgatory, Paradiso is the final point – the realm where only the good, the pure and the virtuous are sent.
The reverse of Paradiso is an allegory recounting Dante's journey through the last of the divine realms – paradise. He made his journey with Beatrice as a guide, who symbolizes theology. The “Paradiso” coin is more than just a collector's item. It can be accessed endlessly due to the hidden meaning depicted here. Everyone will discover for themselves the new philosophical ideas posed by the artist of the piece.
On the obverse, the unique portrait of Dante Alighieri and the inscriptions: “REPUBLIQUE DU CAMEROUN” – the issuing country, “5000 CFA FRANCS” – the face value, “2021” – the year of issue and “700 La divine comedy" which symbolizes the 700th anniversary.
