For sale is your choice(s) of combinations of vintage Jones plugs, left behind in my late father's inventory of parts for radios or other electronic equipment.  He was an instructor in the Army Signal Corps Radio School, an active HAM radio operator for over 70 years, and was a radio and other electronics equipment for most of his life.   He always kept a good inventory of new and used parts on hand, for speedy service to his customers, available for walk-in customers to his repair shop, and hand for his own electronics projects.   These are light, and I will only charge shipping on the first item, and will include any additional items for no additional shipping charge.  In face, I will be listing a large batch of new old stock Jones plugs, and will include them, as well.  Put the items in My Cart with these and request a total.  I will send you an invoice with the shipping revised for you!

(Forgive me for photographing my opening page with the connectors all in bags.  My husband did a thorough job of identifying each one, and I didn't want to take any chance of mixing them up and sending you the wrong one!)

Fortunately, my husband loves to do research on the items we find in Dad's collection, and here's some of what he found:

DESCRIPTION:   For many years, "Jones Plugs & Sockets" were the connector standard for the electrical and electronics industry.  They are still prized by HAMS, communication amateurs, and collectors of vintage radios, public address systems, etc.   Here are eleven (11) selections, consisting of one (1) variety of medium duty, Series 300, mating Plugs & Sockets (original Howard B. Jones product with silver-plated blades and contacts from 1941-1945), two (2) varieties of medium duty, Series 300 Plugs from perhaps as early as 1940, and eight (8) selections of medium duty, Series 300 Sockets from perhaps as early as 1940.  This listing includes some RARE and hard-to-find artifacts.

INVENTORY CLASS:   Pre-owned pulls, some with leads and terminals, or residual solder, and others which need de-soldering before use.  (These components were held by a former member of the U.S. Army Signal Corps, and who was also a life-long HAM radio amateur and owner of a Radio/TV repair shop.  No details of components origin or use are known.)

HISTORY OF JONES CONNECTORS:   From his humble 1924 Canal Street beginnings in south Chicago, Howard Bevan JONES (inventor of JONES Multi-Plugs) became a Roaring '20's entrepreneur.  After the U.S. stock market collapse of 1929, the Howard B. Jones manufacturing firm rented factory space at 2300 Wabansia Ave., on Chicago's West Side, from Kling Bros. & Co.   Jones continued to expand his firm's portfolio of electrical products, and by 1939, Jones had introduced a forerunner of Series 300 "Jones Plugs & Sockets."   The Series 500 power plug & socket line followed in 1940.  During the Second World War, Howard B. Jones was a prominent manufacturer of military electronics, identified by U.S. government MDS code "CJC."   The famous Jones 300 Series plugs & sockets were probably developed during the War.   They were introduced to the commercial market in March, 1945, when the firm was at 2460 W. George Street in Chicago.  The following year, in May, 1946, the company was purchased and would continue operation as the Howard B. Jones Division of Cinch Manufacturing Corp. of Chicago, Illinois (a subsidiary of the United-Carr Fastener Corp. of Cambridge, Mass.).   The famous "JONES Plugs & Sockets" continued until about 1953, when the "CINCH-JONES" name began to appear.  That label persisted until about 1970, when JONES was dropped altogether and the JONES line of plugs and sockets became "CINCH" connectors!
