During my 40 year experience in designing/ building R/C models I have worked with many different materials to produce my initial scratch built prototypes and subsequent limited production models… have mostly used balsa but also most different grade foams either EPS or XPS, additionally worked with some specialized aircraft types such as Rohacell/Herex etc.
All these materials have a specific use and are great for certain tasks but also have their limitations…especially balsa can be very inconsistent in grade so each sheet is different in density and difficult to produce accurate and repeatable results… some cheaper foam types are also inconsistent in density /made from recycled material so difficult to accurately cut and shape/carve as a some parts maybe locally harder or softer within the same board/block or sheet.
With the current high cost of balsa and shortage in obtaining even average quality sheets I have greatly searched for an alternative material to first serve my own needs and consequently offer this to the R/C modelers/artists etc. who are disappointed of poor quality balsa.
The outstanding material I present in this listing is the one i have finally settled and combines many great features that I searched for many years… in general description it is a special XPS foam that is unique in density featuring a very close cell tenacity, its properties are more like very soft/light balsa so sands/carves/cuts easily and produces beautiful results.
A top quality material made in central Europe that is originally produced for high demanding industrial building applications… not easily obtained as the most common types of XPS but totally worth its value, I present below its basic characteristics:
Advantages:
- Lightweight but also very high impact resistance
- Ding and crumble proof
- Uniformity in density
- Straight/no warp even when cut in thin sheets
- Moisture proof/dimensionally stable in environment temperature fluctuations
- Cuts and carves easily/accurately and very smoothly using ordinary tools (Sharp hobby knife/hot wire/scroll or table saw/sandpaper)
- Bends to smooth curves without tearing or crumbling
- Sands to perfection producing a beautiful smooth surface
- Most commonly available glue types are suitable (PVA/Vinyl/Wood/Epoxy)
- Glue joints are stable and very strong due to the material resistance to crumbling and cell separation… many individual sheets can be edge glued to form larger boards
- Can be easily brush painted with most water based types of paint (including house interior paints) or sprayed using specialized foam can sprays… water based acrylics/ epoxy’s or varnishes are also suitable
Disadvantages:
- Not resistant to chemicals and thinners/solvents
- Rarely a few minor/superficial flaws may be present in the form of a shallow chordwise indentation due to a momentary pause of the high heat and ultra-thin cutting wire.
- Sheet thickness tolerance may vary slightly depending on production batch.
I personally supervise / cut (Foam Cutting Services) and supply this fine material in easy to handle and work individual sheets of 1.5/2/4/6/8/10mm thickness , very smooth wave free sheet surface is obtained with the use of my unique own design/production A-Just Precision foam cutting bows equipped with a Titanium alloy cutting wire.

I will pack these sheets very carefully in the following method:
- First all sheets will be completely bundle packed with a bubble wrap material… this will result a single block made up of all individual sheets.
- An external box will be built using thick 5mm double flute cardboard… this sturdy box will contain the bundle pack of the foam sheets.
- All mating edges of the cardboard box will be taped tight together using 50mm wide tape… tape will overlap at all corners forming additional protection against dings.

- Item(s) is part of my private collection gathered through 40+ years of aero modeling career and not bought second hand for the sole purpose of commercial profit, as I am just a private seller, therefore I can personally attest for the quality of each item.
- Every item is thoroughly inspected for good condition and/or functionality before listed in eBay and double checked again before finally shipped.
Shipping Notes:
I have 100% delivery success rate and total item received satisfaction of my buyers, just read my feedback… but also please read the following:
- Buyer will receive exactly the number and depicted quality of the items shown in the photos unless stated otherwise, as there are some cases that a specific item maybe present just as an aid for the photo session.
- I will ship the package within five working days counting from the next day the buyer completed the purchase.
- At same day of posting the package I will contact the buyer with Tracking number and appropriate official carrier’s link to follow its progress, plus photos of the parcel during processing at the Post Office which clearly show the official Post documents and attached Tracking number.
- It is my standard policy that I exercise special care in handling and packaging guaranteed for added safety during International shipping, I have high confidence in the integrity of every parcel I prepare. - Estimated shipping delivery dates:

Since I have personally prepared the package I can judge of its integrity and so if I advise you to finally accept it I take full responsibility of the integrity of its contents and value.
Rest assured that superficial dents and scratches even of 3/8 of an inch depth cannot do damage to my multilayered packaging procedure and you can right away accept your package if the damage is limited to only that extent.
If I judge by your description and photos that the damage is very serious I will advise that you officially declare the parcel “unaccepted due to shipping damage” additionally please get a “denied acceptance document “ from your local shipping agent.
The package will be returned to me and I will immediately refund the total amount to you after I have received it back in its original package.
