Jose Yacopi (1916-2006) was born in Barcelona, Spain, and learned guitar making from his father, Gamaliel Yacopi, a master craftsman. In 1951, he and his father moved to San Fernando, Argentina, and opened a workshop in 1961.
The guitar was a favorite of the virtuoso guitarist Maria Luisa Anido, whose playing delighted the ears of fans of yesteryear, but the guitar's distinctive tone was soon lost in the shadows.
The distinctive tone of the guitar soon attracted the attention of not only classical guitarists but also bossa nova and jazz guitarists, and it has become a staple brand in these genres.
The 1995 model we have in stock this time has some playing scratches and string jumps commensurate with its age, but it has never been cracked or repaired, and is in good condition for a used Jacopi.
The warm and round sound of the Jacopi is still there. The full bass is also very attractive. The bracing is not the inverted "C" style that is synonymous with Jacopi, but rather the orthodox "C" style. The string height has been adjusted low, so there is almost no saddle left, but it is very easy to play.
