This listing is for a box of 12 gold mercury glass Christmas ornaments made by Corning, and sold under the label Coby.  While not as well known as Shiny Brite, Coby was a big player in the 1950s for Christmas ornaments.  Because they were owned by Corning, their glass was really high quality.  The box has seen better days, with tape, and a previous owners notes on the box in marker.  The ornaments have great patina - the aged look things get over time.  Air, cardboard, metal and just about everything causes mercury glass to darken and cloud.

If you don't want your mercury glass to age further, wrap each piece tightly in acid free tissue paper.  For some reason, this stops the aging.

These ornaments are the large 3 inch size.  They are a lovely dark gold, and the caps are all there, in great condition, and all Coby caps.

Coby used a slightly scalloped edge, and "Made in USA" stamped on the caps.

This set is fun because it really IS vintage, and original, and in it's original box.  I see a lot of sets that say "in original box", when they aren't.  It's a mixture of ornaments in a vintage box, but not necessarily THEIR original box.  The ornaments will often be a mixture of manufacturers.
