There are eight tiny tears along the edges. One of the largest is on the left side: a 1/4 inch tear on top left (See main photo). The three other largest are on the right: a two-inch tear on the pant leg (See photo), a 1/2 inch tear on the red soil (See photo) and a one-inch tear on bottom white background (See photo). There's an eight inch stain on the back bottom(See photo) and a slight fold, barely visible, on the bottom right corner (See photo). Some age spots on the back (See photo). Artist Rafael Tufi~no created the poster for a movie titled "A Small Plot of Land." The movie was designed to encourage farmers to work the land at a time when the government was also promoting the industrialization of Puerto Rico under a program known as Operation Bootstrap. The artwork is not signed by Tufi~no.
BIOGRAPHY:  Rafael Tufi~no (1922-2008) was a draftsman, graphic artist, muralist and illustrator and one of Puerto Rico's most prominent artists of his generation. Known for his excellence in printmaking, his art favored a figurative style. Together with artists Lorenzo Homar and graphic designer Irene Delano, he drew the famous "Plenas" portfolio in 1953.  In 1954, he was awarded a Guggenheim fellowship and created "El Cafe," the first solo portfolio of a Puerto Rican artist. He became a member of the "Generacion del Cincuenta" (Fifties Generation), a group of young artists dedicated to forging an aesthetic identity for Puerto Rico.

Born in Brooklyn, New York of Puerto Rican parents, Tufi~no returned to the island when he was 10 years old, where he found his lifelong inspiration painting daily life --- work, dance, music and festivals, as well as landscapes, interiors and portraits. He studied art in Puerto Rico and Mexico.
