OTOMO THE COMPLETE WORKS 23 Animation AKIRA Layouts & Key Frames 1 Anime JAPAN

F/S   W/Tracking

Released in theaters in 1988, the animated film version of "AKIRA" went beyond the realm of manga to revolutionize the world of animation. This book, from the huge amount of layouts, original images, and original image corrections used in the production of the anime version, is drawn by Katsuhiro Otomo himself, who was also the original author and director, in all three volumes. This is the first volume of the compilation. A layout is a drawing of necessary information for each of the scenes that make up the main part of the anime, and serves as a blueprint for drawing the anime. In addition to recording the original drawings and layouts of the four parts A, B, C, and D that make up the entire movie, "A part and the beginning of B part", many precious scenes created based on them are included. Duplicate cels are also recorded. One of the reasons why this work rewrites the history of anime movies and continues to fascinate the world to this day is the “magnificence of movement”. This is followed by a detailed presentation of the production process of his radical expression.

Based on the art settings, the backgrounds and character movements of each shot are drawn into the "layout", which is constructed through a thorough process in which the animation director, the art director, and even Director Otomo himself directs and corrects the layout. The movie version of "AKIRA". You can feel the uncompromising screen creation from the scenes where each page moves continuously just by flipping through the pages. Almost the entire book is printed in color, and includes many reproduction cels, and the total number of pages is about 650p, making it an unprecedented book.
