Cantora was a double album of duets by the Argentine singer Mercedes Sosa with various interpreters released by Sony BMG Music and the last musical project recorded by her. Although the singer had already suffered various health problems when it was recorded, the album was an immediate success and became a gold record in Argentina in record time. The album managed to obtain two Latin Grammys in 2009, for Best Folk Album and Best Packaging Design.

This rare DVD contains all the recordings from the two albums and as additional material the videos of the recording sessions, meetings with other characters, creative moments, testimonials from the artists who participated and reflections by Mercedes Sosa about her life and her recordings.

'If Latin America spoke, it would do so with the voice of Mercedes Sosa'. This sums up what Mercedes represents for Latin America and the world. ' Cantora - Un Viaje Intimo' reflects the intimacy of the artist, the creative moments, which cannot be seen when listening to her music, but can be felt. Luis Alberto Spinetta, Joan Manuel Serrat, Shakira, Caetano Veloso, Julieta Venegas, León Gieco, Teresa Parodi, Gustavo Cerati, Charly García, René Pérez Joglar, Fito Páez, Lila Downs and Daniela Mercury were some of the more than 40 artists who shared this epic recording.

The documentary takes place in the recording rooms where Mercedes Sosa performed with these artists the songs that make up her latest double album "Cantora".

It is a musical and human journey, where Mercedes forgets the presence of the cameras and is carried away by the emotion of the performance, sometimes laughing, sometimes crying. Her relationship with each artist is bare, friends, old roadmates or new figures of contemporary music who are full of adrenaline when recording a song for the first time with the artist. Intimate moments that also reflect why Mercedes chose her repertoire and the artists who accompanied her. Added to this, the documentary is also offers two unique interviews with Mercedes at her home, months before her she passed away. The relationship between what she says and what she sings is key in the documentary, it is a single path and that is how it is staged.
