Out
of my archive comes this charming his & hers mohair monkey couple with oversize
ears, vintage to the 1940’s to ‘50s. They’ve lived happily with me for the past
30 years inside a protected collector’s cabinet. They were a rare find from the
well known Brimfield Antique Flea Market in Brimfield, MA back in the 1990’s. Both
are mohair plush toys stuffed with straw (also known as wood wool) which
crunches when squeezed. They have happy, amusing rubber faces & hands and
are dressed predominantly in red clothing.
SHE’s medium brown mohair wearing a red cotton skirt and cream blouse with
red collar. HE’s dark brown mohair, outfitted in red cotton overalls with
suspenders, over a cream shirt with red collar. Both have red sueded cotton fabric
shoes. Their arms are jointed for movement, legs floppy to sit upright. No
branding anywhere on these items. Overall good vintage condition, each one has
one small hole on the back of the head behind left ear where you can see the straw stuffing. Vintage discoloration to the shirt fabric.
