Battery-operated multitrack recorder

Multi-track recording is essential for music production, as it allows recording and adjustment of each instrument. However, most multi-track music production equipment requires AC power, making it impossible to take it out and use it. On the other hand, ideas for music often come to us when we are not prepared for them, such as when we are outdoors or out of the house. The "DP-006"/"DP-008EX" are powered by four AA batteries, so you can record chorus arrangements that come into your head even when there is no AC power available. Additionally, the optional external battery pack BP-6AA can be connected to further extend the running time outdoors.

Built-in high-quality stereo condenser microphone for recording without preparation

Two omni-directional condenser microphones are mounted on the front of the main unit. It is possible to record vocals, acoustic guitar, or any other instrument that requires a microphone at any time. The condenser microphones have been tuned through careful listening evaluation. We have put our expertise in the development of linear PCM recorders, which are highly regarded in the market, into the development of this high-quality built-in microphone. Since the microphone is omni-directional, it is easier to install than unidirectional microphones and can record high-quality sound with simple settings. The "DP-006" can be used for more aggressive mic placement by utilizing the tripod hole on the bottom of the unit.

Cassette MTR-like user interface for intuitive operation

In the DP-006/DP-008EX, we narrowed down the target to the use of a sketchpad and chose not to include functions that would not be used. The result is a cassette MTR-like simplicity that allows you to smoothly start recording whenever and wherever a melody comes down. Each track is equipped with a dedicated LEVEL/PAN knob. In addition to this, the "DP-008EX" has an additional knob to control the send level to the heavily used reverb effect. It is possible to adjust each track without having to operate the controls on the screen.

Lightweight design that can be carried in an instrument case

Even if a device does not require a power supply, we always hesitate to carry it if it is not lightweight. The "DP-006"/"DP-008EX" have many dedicated controls for intuitive operation, yet they are lightweight and compact, weighing only 360/610g respectively. You can always keep them in your guitar case or bag.

Built-in chromatic tuner and metronome

A chromatic tuner and metronome are built into the DP-006 to reduce the amount of luggage you need to carry, so you can be ready to go with just one unit. The metronome can be selected to pronounce during recording and playback or only during recording, and the tempo can be set in a wide range from 20 to 250. The metronome volume can also be adjusted.

Two input jacks for connecting an external microphone or an electric acoustic guitar.

In addition to vocals and acoustic guitar, the DP-006 is equipped with two input jacks with phone jacks to accommodate line instruments and an electric acoustic guitar. Portable devices such as portable music players can also be connected when used as instruments.

Recording to SD/SDHC card, high-speed data transfer via USB 2.0

The DP-006DP-006 uses the highly versatile SD/SDHC card as the recording medium. The use of commonly used media ensures easy availability. It can be utilized according to the environment, such as separating SD cards for each song like a cassette MTR, or leaving a single high-capacity card attached. The UD-100 can also be connected directly to a PC via USB 2.0 for high-speed transfer of recorded ideas to a PC even with an SD card attached. 2GB SD card is included.

UNDO/REDO function for layering ideas without hesitation

While many MTRs use destructive editing, TASCAM's PORTASTUDIO/POCKETSTUDIO series uses a nondestructive editing method, allowing free UNDO. If a mistake is made in a performance, it is easy to go back to the previous state, so recordings can be made one after the other without worrying about mistakes. In addition, the UNDO HISTORY function allows you to specify a previous state and restore it to the previous state. You can actively and boldly layer ideas without worrying about making mistakes.

File import/export in WAV format

The DP-006 supports importing and exporting of WAV format files, allowing you to import karaoke files created on a DAW and record various types of melodies. The best take can then be exported and pasted into the DAW. Both mono and stereo file formats are supported.

Track editing function for simple editing such as cutting out silent parts.

The DP-006 is equipped with a track editing function that can be used to cut out silent parts and duplicate tracks for doubling. A little editing, such as cutting noise at the beginning of a song, can greatly improve the quality of the song.

Phantom power can be supplied even when the unit is battery powered, allowing you to use your favorite condenser microphone at any time.

*Please note that the battery operation time is shorter than when phantom power is turned off.

Equipped with input effects for sound conditioning and recording

The DP-006 is equipped with an input effect for recording with the input sound in a well-defined state, such as extending the high frequency range of a dynamic microphone to accentuate the contour of a vocal. In addition to the equalizer, dynamics effects (compressor, de-esser, and exciter) are also provided. It is possible to record vocals and bass with the compressor in place.

2-band shelving equalizer on each track

The DP-006 is equipped with a 2-band equalizer on each of the 8 tracks, allowing the sound quality to be adjusted to suit each track. After recording, you can optimize its position with the other tracks: HI can be set from 1.7 kHz to 18 kHz, and LOW from 32 Hz to 1.6 kHz, adjustable in the range of +/-12 dB.

Equipped with a reverb effect that makes acoustic guitar and vocals sound beautiful.

The DP-006 is equipped with a reverb effect useful for processing vocals, acoustic guitars, and other tracks that sound more appealing with added resonance. 6 different types of reverb can be selected to best suit your needs. Simply turn the dedicated knob for each track to apply reverb, and you can choose from Hall1/2, Room, Studio, and Plate1/2, and adjust the reverb time and master level. The reverb time and master level can be adjusted to suit the song.

Equipped with mastering effects that enhance the quality of stereo mastering

The DP-008EX is equipped with mastering effects so that production can be completed using only the DP-008EX, including a 2-band equalizer, a multi-band compressor, and a normalizing effect that increases the sound pressure. Master files with a sound pressure level similar to that of commercially available CDs can be created.

Auto Analysis Mastering function for easy creation of master files with a sense of sound pressure

The DP-006 is equipped with an Auto Analysis Mastering function that is useful when you are unsure of mastering methods or when you want to send a demo file during the mastering process. The master file can be created quickly and with a sense of sound pressure.
