Notes: This is the rare first edition of this title published by the American Bible Union. This first edition has English only. It was followed by editions which include the Hebrew text and an introduction and the name Thomas Conant as the commentator, which this edition does not. The cover of this book says "Revised English Scriptures" and the translation is new - not the King James Version. It is one of the first - some references say the first - translations done by the American Bible Union. The American Bible Union was formed in 1850 by members of the American Bible Society which wanted translations that they thought correctly reflected baptist theology. Among other things they wanted the Greek word for baptize to be translated immerse. Cloth bound with gilt decoration on the front. Page edges are red. 63pp.Full refund if not satisfied. |
