The idea of publishing oversize books, in small limited runs, that scanned - in COLOR - complete stories of original black & white comic book page artworks and printing them the same size as the original art itself, was started in 2010 by Scott Dunbier at IDW, and the IDW book releases are called ARTIST'S EDITION(S), or ARTIFACT EDITION(S) when incomplete stories are presented.
The book mimics the experience of actually holding and viewing the comic art pages themselves. Thus one sees the not-completely-erased pencils, editorial notes, printing crop marks, details of pasteovers, zip-a-tone films, mistake white-outs, blue pencil sketching, blue lines pre-printed on the boards themselves, Craftint Duotone shading, etc.
Soon many other comic book companies started their own lines of such books with differing names for their lines: GALLERY EDITION (both Graphitti Designs and Dark Horse use that name), STUDIO EDITION (Fantagraphics), COLLECTED ARTWORK EDITION (FPG), ARCHIVAL EDITION (Hermes Press), ART EDITION (Dynamite Entertainment), VAULT EDITION (Image), ORIGINAL ART EDITION (Titan), FINE ART EDITION (Wayne Alan Harold for P Craig Russell books), ORIGINAL ART ARCHIVES (Genesis West), APEX EDITION (Rebellion/2000AD), CURATOR'S COLLECTION (Kitchen Sink via Dark Horse), et al
Despite the various names given by different publishers, this kind of book is often generically referred to as an ARTISTS EDITION or ARTIST'S EDITION, regardless of publisher.
Due to many requests, I have enrolled in eBay's GLOBAL SHIPPING PROGRAM (GSP) so that buyers OUTSIDE THE USA can have access to purchasing my items.
IMPORTANT: if you wish to buy more than one of my items and have them ship together, WRITE TO ME FIRST before doing anything and tell me which items you want, and I will make a custom listing just for you that includes all of them for the agreed combined sale price.
DON'T click the Buy It Now buttons on the various items first, because the GSP DOES NOT ALLOW COMBINED SHIPPING OF MULTIPLE SALES in the GSP cart!!!
