The opal is a true black with very rich tones that appear even in the lowest of light. In bright light this ring performs exactly the way you want it to. In darker room light the opal is darker... black with deep navy-blue fire.  The opal rises just slightly above its setting and is approximately 2.8 carats measuring in at half an inch wide by 12mm knuckle to knuckle. The rings weighs in at a good 9 grams! It is solid and although dark underneath, you can see the light passing through the stone.
