Quaker City Saw 23" 8tpi Crosscut Handsaw.

An uncommon saw to find in the UK, Quaker city saw works were a Philadelphia based saw manufacturer founded around 1860, I've heard that at some point in the early 20th century they were taken over by the much better known Philadelphia saw manufacturer Henry Disston. I'm struggling to date this saw accrately but however old it is, it's a handsome little chap and does it's job beautifully.

It's 23" plate has had it's 8tpi toothline freshened up, hand set and filed with a 15 degree rake 15 degree fleam crosscut pattern, It's plate is in good shape, no kinks or bows, the handle is quarter-sawn Beech and showing it's beautiful medullary rays.

In the wood it cuts quickly and smoothly, it's small dimentions making it a very easy saw to handle.
