A genuine Tony Barrow signature for sale, dating to the mid 90’s at the time of a ‘Beatles associates’ collection of autographs was being assembled.

Tony Barrow worked for the Beatles throughout their career, having been recruited as a freelance journalist by Brian Epstein. He is the main press officer for the Beatles, taking lead on all the stories and promotional material linked to the Beatles music releases and tours.

The person assembling the autographs and signatures was called Mark Bowers, attending a number of Liverpool based Beatles conventions in the mid 90’s.

Recently his collection went under the hammer.

The autograph from Tony Barrow is in black felt pen, on a glossy black and white fan club promo photo dating to 1970. The promo photo features an image taken from the filming of the 1965 movie ‘Help!’

The autographed item itself has been stored brilliantly - the item has been handled a number of times, and is showing slight evidence of handling and storage when under bright light.

This item was recently sold at auction as part of an autograph collection job lot.

Tim Davidson Auctions - 12th January 2022 - part of Lot 571.
